The toss of the 5th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians went in favour of Rohit Sharma, who opted to bowl. But after that nothing went their way as the home side was all over them be with it bat and ball.

Mohammed Siraj tested Mumbai openers Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma with the new ball and drew the first blood for his team as he removed the southpaw for just 10 runs. His fiery bowling spell was complimented well by Reece Topley, who removed dangerous Cameron Green for 5 runs, and Akash Deep, who sent Rohit packing for 1 run.

Suryakumar Yadav tried to bail his side out of trouble but was the victim of debutant Michael Bracewell, who removed him for 15 runs. It was Tilak Varma’s show after that as he played a gritty knock of unbeaten 84 runs. He was left unfazed by the wicket tumbling at the other end. Based on his knock and handy contributions from Nehal Wadhera (21) and Arshad Khan (15), MI posted a total of 171 runs. Karan Sharma was the pick of the bowlers as he took two wickets for 32 runs.
