Watch: Tilak Varma destroys Jofra Archer, goes 4,6,06 against fast bowler in Chennai
India batter Tilak Varma has looked in great touch with the bat in the ongoing second T20I against England. The second match of the five-match series between the teams is taking place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Tilak Varma, who was promoted up the order, came out all guns blazing with the bat and took attack to the England bowlers. The left-hander, who slammed two back-to-back centuries in South Africa, oozed his class with the bat as he played some sublime strokes.
Tilak Varma, in particular, targeted Jofra Archer as the batter slammed the England fast bowler for 17 runs in an over. The young India batter started the over on high as he hit a magnificent boundary on the first ball. He created, took, and slashed the ball over point.
On the very next ball, Tilak Varma then slammed an outrageous six. Jofra Archer bowled a 150.3 kph ball to which the batter stayed inside the line of the ball and managed to get it off the meat of the bat as the ball sailed over fine leg to a big maximum.
After a dot on the third ball, Tilak Varma then managed another six. Jofra Archer bowled a short ball to which the batter looked to pull it and got it very fine. The ball sailed over the head of the keeper and went for a six to put pressure on the premier England pacer.
The video of the incident can be seen at the end:
Earlier, India had a great outing with the ball as they put England batters under massive pressure. Bowlers kept chipping in with wickets at regular intervals. Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel bagged two wickets whereas others apart from Ravi Bishnoi also picked one wicket.
For England, skipper Jos Buttler (45) and Brydon Carse (35) were the only batters who got past the 30-run mark, while Jamie Smith managed 22 runs off 12 balls. Their effort saw England posting a total of 165 runs.
