This was the second time that Varun Chakravarthy removed Harry Brook from the series. The mystery spinner troubled the TB batter big time in the first match, and in the ongoing game, too, the batter fell prey to the spinner, who asserted his authority over the right-hander.
After getting out in the first over, Harry Brook made a bizarre statement. He said that due to smog in Kolkata, it was difficult for him to read the spinners. But as he got out, Ravi Shastri, who was commentating, made sure that he mocked the batter. He said on air: "You don't need the smog tonight. It sneaked through."
Harry Brook ended with an inning of 13 runs off 8 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 162 and also slammed 1 four and 1 six in his innings. With his wicket, England lost their third wicket in the innings and were left tottering at 59/3.
