“We will lift the 6th IPL trophy anyhow,” says MI’s Suryakumar Yadav: Five times IPL champion, Mumbai Indians (MI) had a horrible outing in the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as they finished at the bottom of the points table with just four victories from 14 matches in league stages. The franchise had a hard time tasting victories in the tournament due to their unsettled playingXI.
To make it their worst season ever, Mumbai added up eight consecutive defeats in the IPL 2022 before getting off the mark in the league. While MI had no wins in the first eight matches, the franchise went on to bring up four wins in their next six matches, ending their campaign on a high.
Though Mumbai Indians endured an awful season, Suryakumar Yadav was one of the few players who performed consistently. Yadav missed the start and the end of the IPL 2022 due to his share of injuries, however, he did exceedingly well to notch up over 300 runs in the tournament.
In a video shared by Mumbai Indians on their social media profiles, Suryakumar Yadav can be heard saying MI has to add one more title to their collection of five.
“We’ve to lift the sixth (trophy) anyhow. It’s unfortunate that it can’t happen this year. Next year, we have to add one more trophy anyhow,” said Suryakumar Yadav.
Despite missing six games in the tournament, Yadav managed to score 303 runs for his team at an impressive average of 43.29 with a strike rate of 145.67. With such stats, Yadav remained Mumbai’s third-highest run-getter in the tournament as he was only behind the likes of Ishan Kishan and TIlak Verma.

Tilak Verma, Dewald Bravis & Tim David, other bright spots for MI:
In an otherwise disappointing season for Mumbai Indians, young batter Tilak Verma along with Dewald Bravis and Tim David were a few other bright spots for the franchise in blue and gold.
“He (Dewald Brevis) is new to the set-up, so he should understand. They are explaining to him what it takes to lift that trophy, which is good,” said Suryakumar Yadav.
Young South African star, Dewald Bravis amassed 161 runs in the seven outings for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022. The Protea batter played with a strike rate of 142.47.
Meanwhile, Tim David has also shown some great signs towards the end of the tournament. David smoked 186 runs in eight innings for Mumbai Indians at a blistering strike rate of 216.27.
