Weekend Double-Headers in IPL 2025: Dates, Venues and Teams
The IPL schedule for 2025 was announced by the IPL governing society of the BCCI yesterday, and like every season, the Weekend Double-Headers in IPL 2025 will be the most anticipated days of the tournament.
The season will mark 12 double-header matches, out of the 18 editions in which a total of 74 matches will be played between the 10 IPL teams. The matches have been announced over 13 different venues, with 10 venues being the home grounds of these teams, while Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, and Dharamshala acting as the three other venues for IPL 2025.
The IPL 2025 will kick off on the 22nd of March with the first game between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens.
IPL Groups and Fixture Schedule:
Group A: Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore
Group B: Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals.
As per the guidelines of the IPL in 2022, each team in a group will play twice against the other four teams in their group while also twice against one predetermined team from the other group. The single matches will be played against the other four teams in the other group.
The top four teams at the end of their 14 matches will advance off to the knockouts, with the top two teams getting two chances and the 3rd and 4th teams squaring off twice in a must-win match to make it to the finals.
Newly named IPL venues for 2025:
Punjab Kings have introduced their new venue for IPL 2025, as they will play in Mullanpur as their first venue and Dharamsala as their second option venue.
Delhi Capitals will now have Vishakapatnam as their second home ground, and the matches will alternatively be played here as well.
Rajasthan Royals have named Guwahati as their second home ground alongside the Sawai Mansingh Cricket Ground at Jaipur.
Double-Headers in IPL 2025:
The IPL schedule revealed 12 double headers in IPL 2025, with the first double header coming on the 23rd of March.
