Why MS Dhoni choose the number ‘7’ Cricket Jersey for India and in IPL: Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s name has been linked with the number seven for several years now. In fact, a lot of people around the world know Dhoni with this number, as he always sports it at the backside of his cricket jerseys irrespective of whether he plays for India or in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

All these years people were quite curious to know what was the rationale behind that magic number of MS Dhoni.

In the recent interview organised by India Cements, MS Dhoni himself revealed that there is actually nothing fancy about that particular number seven, but he decided to choose it because his birthday comes on the 7th of July.

“A lot of people initially thought that 7 is a lucky number for me and all of that. But I chose the number for a very simple reason. I was born on the 7th of July. So it’s the 7th day of the 7th month, that was the reason,” said Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is gearing up for the Tata IPL 2022.

The glovesman also talked about how emotional is it for him to sport number seven jersey in the IPL or over the years.

“A lot of people said 7 is a neutral number and even if it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t really go against you. That also I added to my answer. I am not very superstitious about it, but it’s one number that is close to my heart and I have kept it over the years with me,” he added.

MS Dhoni would play his last IPL in 2022:

Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that Dhoni would be playing his final IPL season in 2022. The CSK skipper is highly likely to bid adieu to the game of cricket entirely after the conclusion of the Tata IPL 2022.

MS Dhoni is still at the pinnacle of world cricket as he is the only captain who has won all the three IPL trophies. The sensational brain of Dhoni also led him to four IPL titles, of which one came in the last edition.

It would be an emotional moment for all the Dhoni and Yellow fans to say goodbye to a cricket genius like MS Dhoni, but it’s inevitable. Dhoni has always reminded silent as far as his cricketing actions are concerned.

He drew curtains to his international career silently with just a social media post. However, the fans want him to play a farewell match at least to wave a final bye to his T20 career.

Meanwhile, the IPL 2022 will kickstart on March 26th with reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locking horns against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
