WI vs IND: Easy as a cake win for India! The Ashwin-Jaddu duo just took one and a half sessions to wrap up Windies’ lineup. India started their WTC 2025 journey with a win bagging 12 points. Ashwin shone with 12 wickets as India Beat West Indies by an inning and 141 runs.

With the ball, Ashwin established himself as India’s best bowler, recording 7/71 in the second innings. For the eighth time, he recorded a 10-wicket haul, tying Anil Kumble for most by an Indian bowler. With 12 for 131, Ashwin also had his finest test mark away from home.

This Test, though, will be more memorable for a 21-year-old rookie. The Mumbai native who is making his debut more than 12,000 miles from home seems at ease playing Test cricket. An almost faultless, hardworking big hundred from the southpaw—undoubtedly the first of many.

WI vs IND Day 3 Review

After reaching 400 for four at lunch, India declared their first innings at 421 for five, taking a nearly 271-run lead before the West Indies stepped out to bat in their second innings. West Indies were bowled out for 130 in their second innings during the prolonged final session, which brought the match’s three-day duration to an end.

Alick Athanaze, a West Indies rookie, once again demonstrated his potential as a player for the future by scoring 28 runs in the second innings following a magnificent 47 in the first. Jomel Warrican (18) and Jason Holder (20) also made an effort to engage in combat, but it was too late for West Indies.

The West Indies won an advantageous toss and then squandered it by attempting too many strokes; 150 was a pitiful score on a first-day pitch, and as it turned out, the hosts missed the finest batting conditions of the tournament. With a methodically crafted 171 on his debut, Yashashvi Jaiswal exposed the recklessness. Rohit Sharma added 103, while Virat Kohli labored for 76.

The hosts made an effort to be patient in their second attempt, but on a surface that was degrading, they were outmatched by Ravi Ashwin. There will be discussions around this pitch, which Ashwin and Jadeja were clearly handed as a gift.
