World Test Championship (WTC) Points Table [Updated] after AUS vs WI 2nd Test: With a humongous victory by 419 runs against West Indies in the 2nd Test, the Aussies have taken a firm hold of the top spot in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Points Table. The hosts showed complete dominance and registered a clean victory against the Caribbeans in the 2-match Test series.

Despite lacking the test mainstay pacers, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, the mighty Australians trumped West Indies in the Adelaide Test by a huge margin of 419 runs in just four days of play. With the win, Australia have maintained their record of being unbeaten in the day/night test matches. Their winning streak in the pink ball test climbs up to 11 victories.

Earlier, Australia notched up a colossal total of 511 runs in the first innings owing to the sensational knock of Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head, who both scored over 150 individual runs.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Anderson Phillip tried to stitch a good partnership in response to a massive first innings total, however, their efforts looked scanty against the opposition bowling lineup. West Indies were bowled out at a score of 214 runs.

In spite of having enough runs on board, Steve Smith, stand-in skipper, decided to waive the follow-on and put in some more runs. Australia fiercely batted for the next few hours and then decided to declare the innings after scoring 199 in the third innings.

Once again, it was West Indies’ turn to bat under the lights with the pink ball doing its bit to trouble the batters. This time, the Aussie bowlers didn’t let the Caribbeans settle down and rattled through the batting lineup to blow away the entire unit in a mere 77-run score. It took Australia nearly 90 minutes on day 4 of the test for Australia to dismantle the entire West Indies innings and seal the victory.

ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Points Table:

Australia have strengthened its hold on the top position with a winning percentage of 75 and 108 rating points. South Africa stands in the second spot with a 60 winning percentage. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka held its third place followed by India, Pakistan and England.

India will have its chances to make it to the top 2 of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Points Table, but it would require a lion-hearted effort from the Indian men. Rohit Sharma and Co will have to win all its remaining test matches (2 against Bangladesh and 4 against Australia) in order to get through to the final of the WTC 2021-23.
