WTC 2025 Points Table Updated after New Zealand's Massive win against England in Farewell test for Tim Southee
NZ vs ENG 3rd Test: The third and last test of the England tour of New Zealand 2024 came to an end after the home team cleared up the lower order of England and clinched a consolation win in the series. This win has pushed New Zealand up to the fourth rank from the sixth.
The hosts had already lost the series after heavy defeats in the first two Tests, but this final match carried special significance—it was Tim Southee’s farewell game. A victory here would have offered a much-needed silver lining. As the match ended, Southee picked up a stump and led his team off the field, basking in the applause from the crowd.
The moment was made even more special when he received a warm hug from former teammate and current England coach, Brendon McCullum, bringing a heartfelt close to his illustrious Test career.
England may have won the series, but their tour ended on a sour note with New Zealand’s commanding victory in the final Test. Despite the setback, England had plenty to celebrate, including Harry Brook’s brilliant batting and Brydon Carse’s leadership of a sharp seam attack in the first two matches. Beating New Zealand at home is a tough challenge, and England can still take pride in their overall performance.
