WTC Final 2023: In an important development for Indian Cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will send the first batch of Indian contingent to London for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship Final between May 23-24. The players will be sent in batches after their Indian Premier League (IPL) commitments are over.
Team India will take on Australia in the ICC WTC Final 2023 at The Oval in London. The IND vs AUS ICC WTC Final contest will commence on June 7 (Wednesday) with June 12 kept as the reserve day. The second edition of the ICC WTC saw Australia leading the nine-team points table while team India held its horses high to end its campaign in the second spot.
With ICC WTC Final 2023 to begin on June 7, the BCCI wants to give ample opportunities to the players to prepare well for the marquee event. While the first contingent of Indian players will leave for London on May 23-24, the remaining players will join the squad once their IPL services are over.
The first batch will include coach Rahul Dravid and his entire management along with the test-bound players who are not taking part in the IPL 2023 and the players whose teams have been eliminated from the playoffs of the IPL 2023.
“Rahul Dravid will leave for London in the last week of May, around May 23-24,” said a BCCI official. “Players will leave after their IPL commitments. Some of the guys will leave with Dravid as their IPL campaign will be over,” the official added.
Veteran Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara will join his teammates after his county championship stint for Sussex. He will be one of the last players to join the preparatory camps in England.

India’s Squad for ICC WTC Final 2023
Meanwhile, talking about the squad selection for the ICC WTC Final 2023, a four-member selection panel will announce India’s squad for the event probably in the first week of May. The senior players are likely to retain their spots. The only conundrum would be for the replacement of Shreyas Iyer.
