WTC Final: Team India has to play the final match of the World Test Championship 2021-23 against Australia at the Oval ground in England from the seventh of next month. Before this important match, the BCCI also announced the 15-member squad of the Indian team. Apart from Virat Kohli and Mohammad Siraj, eight other players have also reached England. As soon as the IPL gets over, all the remaining players will also reach Australia.
The Indian side won the Test match at the Oval in 2021 while Shastri was the head coach, however, at that time, they had fast bowlers Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Shardul Thakur. In addition to them, Rohit Sharma’s century innings were crucial to that game. Shastri stated that Bumrah’s absence harmed India’s chances when picking his playing 11 for the WTC final.

What Did Shastri Said?
“If your fast bowling strategy isn’t particularly effective. Ashwin and Jadeja are both excellent spinners, so you should select two if you believe that some of the fast bowlers have aged and are no longer as fast.”
“If the dry ground is hard, you should still land with two spinners. England is a country where the weather is significant, but I don’t know the weather there. I believe it is sunny there right now. India should therefore use two spinners, two fast bowlers, and one all-rounder in this situation. In addition to this, the team should have five batsmen and one wicketkeeper.”
“This would be my team lineup if the Oval’s circumstances were typical. You have to field such players who can beat Australia..” Shastri has chosen Srikar Bharat over Ishaan Kishan as his choice for a wicketkeeper.
