Yuzvendra Chahal says his bond with Rohit Sharma goes beyond the field of cricket.
Seasoned Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, in his recent conversation with Times of India, said that he shares a good bond with team India’s new T20I skipper Rohit Sharma. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced Rohit Sharma to be the leader of the shortest format for team India following Virat Kohli’s decision to relinquish his role.
India will start a new era under their newly appointed skipper Rohit Sharma and the new head coach Rahul Dravid. Both of the acclaimed leaders will start their new journey in the Indian colours with the upcoming India vs New Zealand T20I series.
“I have always had a special bond with Rohit. We are like family. Be it him or Ritika Bhabhi, they have always treated me like a younger brother. We always went out together for dinner,” said Yuzvendra Chahal on his relationship with the new Indian T20I skipper.
“Whenever we are on the field, I always share my views with him, like the time we got Kuldeep (Yadav) to bowl from a certain end to Babar Azam in the 2019 World Cup and got him out,” he added.
He further said that their relationship doesn’t have a boundary and goes beyond the field of cricket.
“Our relationship is beyond our cricket. That helps on the field too when you trust someone so much. It’s always good to know that if I share something with him, there will be a positive response and vibe.”

Yuzvendra Chahal on his snub from India’s World Cup 2021 squad:
The Indian selectors overlooked Yuzvendra Chahal for India’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Rahul Chahar was preferred ahead of experienced leggie Chahal and the move went against India.
Chahal said that he was disappointed for a few days but was soon up as the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was there to make amendments to his performance.
“I was not dropped in four years and then I got dropped for such a marquee event. I felt really bad. I was down for two-three days. But then I knew the second leg of the IPL was still around the corner.
The 31-years old said that he tracked back his steps to his coaches and took their advice. He was backed a lot by his family and fans.
“I went back to my coaches and spoke to them a lot. My wife and family were constantly encouraging me. My fans kept putting out motivational posts. That buoyed me. I decided to back my strengths and overcome my confusion. I couldn’t have sulked for long because that would have impacted my IPL form.”
Yuzvendra Chahal is picked in India’s squad for the New Zealand T20I series. The spinner is likely to get a place in the starting playing11 led by Rohit Sharma.
