IPL 2021: 16-years-old Nagaland spinner Khrievitso Kense invited by Mumbai Indians for the trials.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021: Khrievitso Kense, a 16 years old young spinner from Nagaland becomes the first cricketer to come into the eyes of the most successful IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians. The talent scout of the franchise has called the young spinner for the trial and to understand more about his capabilities.
Kense is the first cricketer from his state Nagaland to catch the attention of the IPL team. The 16 years old has impressed many with his bowling in the ongoing domestic tournament, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021.
Khrievitso Kense made his debut for his state team in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2021 only. The young spinner only featured in four games and picked 7 scalps with an average of 12.00 and with 13.1 strike rate. His economy was just 5.47 which is pretty good in the shortest format of cricket.
Mumbai Indians spotted 16-years-old Khrievitso Kense in SMAT 20:
According to the reports in Eastern Mirror, the young lad has been approached by the officials of the five-times champion side and called him for the trials. The talent scout team of MI was impressed with the bowling of the 16 years old in SMAT 2020-21.
Kense is very excited for the call-up and will soon meet the MI officials for the trails. If he enters the auction of IPL 2021, which will be held on 18th February in Chennai, and picked by any franchise then it will be a proud moment for Nagaland Cricket team. He will eventually become the first cricketer from North-Eastern cricket team to play IPL.
In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021, Nagaland performed pretty well and was the best side of North East. Nagaland pulled off four out of five games while the fifth against Chandigarh was abandoned due to rain.
The SMAT 2020-21 has now stepped in into the business end and Tamil Nadu, Baroda, Rajasthan and Punjab have qualified for the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be held on Friday while the Final will be played on 31st January at Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad.
