25 per cent fans likely to be allowed to watch Tata IPL 2022: REPORTS: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Maharashtra Government is likely to allow 25 per cent of fans to watch the live-action of the upcoming Tata IPL 2022. Season 15 of the IPL will get underway on March 26 (Saturday) while the final will be held on May 29 (Sunday).

The entire tournament will be held across four different venues in Mumbai and Pune city of Maharashtra namely - Wankhede Stadium, DY Patil Stadium, MCA International Stadium and Brabourne Stadium.

As per the latest reports, the BCCI along with Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and Maharashtra Cricket Association (MHCA) are convinced to welcome back fans into the stadium to watch the Indian T20 extravaganza.

Maharashtra?s one of the top cabinet ministers, Aditya Thackrey, met the officials of the MCA and MHCA and agreed to open the stadium doors for a small fraction of the fans.

With covid cases tally dipping on daily basis in India, the officials have arrived at a conclusion to allow 25 per cent of fans to the stadium for the IPL 2022.

?Yes, we have come a full circle,? BCCI treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. ?It has set a new template for Indian cricket. There is no looking back,? he added.

It is noteworthy that the stadiums in India have begun operating with around 40 per cent fans. In the recently held T20 series between India and Sri Lanka, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) allowed a decent number of fans to watch the games.

?It was in Dharamsala where the Covid threat to Indian cricket started in 2020. It halted the game there. Subsequently the matches in Lucknow and Kolkata also got called off due to the Coronavirus threat. We are glad that cricket with crowds got revived from Dharamsala itself (referring to India?s last two T20Is against Sri Lanka). It was great to see the enthusiasm of the crowds for both the games. I hope there is no stopping Indian cricket from here,? the BCCI treasurer further said.
