Vivo IPL 2021: The first champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan Royals (RR) have found it tough to get going in the Indian league and have failed constantly to remove the irritating tag of underdogs. The franchise has managed to qualify for the playoffs just 4 times out of the 11 outings they did in the 13 seasons of the Indian Premier League.

In the recent Vivo IPL 2021 Phase 1, RR didn?t have an encouraging outing either. They are placed in fifth place after Mumbai Indians with 3 wins in seven games.

The Rajasthan based IPL franchise has heavily hanged on their overseas recruits, England players to be precise. The likes of Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler in recent times have formed their core, which is certainly a disadvantage for the franchise as they eat up the overseas slots in the playing11.

RR suffered two early jolts in the IPL 2021 as Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were ruled out due to injuries concerns. Now, another English cricketer Jos Buttler has confirmed that he won?t be available for the second phase of the Vivo IPL 2021 which is slated to be held in the UAE during September October.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) can opt for Trinidadian cricketer Evin Lewis as a first possible replacement for Jos Buttler. Evin Lewis has his name decorated with huge striking abilities.?

Lewis was first picked by Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2018 IPL auctions owing to his brilliant batting power and sensational hitting abilities. By the time he got picked in the IPL, he had smacked two T20I hundreds against India.

The left-handed batsman plundered 430 runs in 16 IPL outings for Mumbai Indians in 2018 and 2019. He was exceptional in providing his team with quickfire drift in the initial overs.

He is quite active in the overseas T20 Leagues and is a regular face for his teams, however, his brilliance in overseas leagues did not advocate his place in IPL and got unsold in IPL 2021 Mini Auction.

The Australian limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch didn't have a memorable IPL 2021 auction either as he was also left away by the teams.?

Finch is a tremendous cricketer of the white ball and can easily win games for his team. He played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2020 where he didn't have an encouraging outing.

In 12 games in the previous season, Finch could only manage to gather 268 runs which went against his likes.

Another Australian Cricketer, Alex Carey could be a possible replacement for Jos Buttler in Rajasthan Royals (RR). 

The Aussie wicketkeeper-batsman does not possess massive IPL experience, however, his international experience can come in handy for RR.

Being a wicketkeeper batsman, Alex Carey could be a like-for-like replacement for Buttler.

Carey featured for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2020, which was held in the UAE. He managed to score 32 runs in 3 games he got.
