3 Player Battles to Watch out for in the Third IND vs AUS Test at the Gabba
By Karan Rawat December 12, 2024 1:39 PM IST
IND vs AUS: After an incredible win in Perth, Team India were blown away by Australia in the day-night test at Adelaide Oval. With a 10-wicket win, Australia made a stunning comeback in the series and leveled it at 1-1. Now, these two teams will be up against each other in the third test, which is scheduled to take place at the Gabba, Brisbane.
This match will start on December 14 at 5:50 AM. The Indian batting has been under scrutiny as India have not been able to reach 200 in three innings in the first two games. On the other hand, Australia have also looked rusty with the bat in the first test. So, both teams will have some areas to address before the Gabba Test.
It will be another exciting game of cricket between the two heavyweights, and a lot will be on the line. Both teams have a number of match-winners who will come into play in the third IND vs AUS test. In this article, we will talk about three premier player battles to watch out for in the third test.
Three Top Player Battlers to watch out for in third IND vs AUS test at The Gabba
1. Yashasvi Jaiswal vs Mitchell Starc
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are not in good form, and a lot will depend on how India's youngsters will react. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been in tremendous form this year and showed it when he slammed 161 runs in Perth.
But he bagged two ducks in two games, and both came against Mitchell Starc, which has set the tone for Australia. If Jaiswal gets out early, the Indian team also struggles. So, Jaiswal will be key for India, and he will be up against the aging star Starc, who has had the better of him in the series.
2. Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma vs Pat Cummins
Without a doubt, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the main pillars for Indian batting across formats. But this season, these two veterans have struggled a lot. That has been seen in this series as well. Apart from his century, Virat has only 23 runs in three innings, while Rohit has scored nine runs in two innings. India need runs from these two.
But they will have the biggest threat of Australian captain Pat Cummins. He has dismissed these two five times each in tests. These two have an average of 23-24 against Cummins, but the Australian captain has done well against these two. So, it will be a great battle to watch out for.
3. Travis Head vs Jasprit Bumrah
Travis Head is Australia's X-factor in their batting. His hundred in the second IND vs AUS test made a big difference. He is an attacking batter who likes to take on the bowlers, and if he stays for a while, he will take Australia to another win in Brisbane.
That's where Jasprit Bumrah will be needed. Bumrah has dismissed Head thrice in tests and five times in all international matches. Head has played cautiously against Bumrah, and that will be another good battle to watch out for at The Gabba.
