IPL 2022: 3 Players Delhi Capitals might retain ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
IPL 2022: The Delhi Capitals (DC) were on roll in the Vivo IPL 2021 before the suspension. The franchise topped the points table with six wins and two losses in eight games. Ever since Shreyas Iyer has been handed the captaincy, the franchise is on a consistent run. Although Iyer had to sit out this season due to his shoulder injury, Rishabh Pant, the stand-in skipper for DC, did a brilliant job for the franchise in absence of Shreyas.
There are plenty of options in front of Delhi Capitals (DC) as the franchise had ticked all the boxes ahead of the IPL 2021 however they can only retain two Indian players and one overseas player in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. They might use the Right To Match (RTM) card on their players later on during the Mega Auction, for the time being, we will discuss three important players Delhi Capitals (DC) will retain in IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
3 Players Delhi Capitals might retain ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction:
Shreyas Iyer:
The skipper of the side, Shreyas Iyer, was ruled out of the Vivo IPL 2021 owing to his shoulder injury just before the start of IPL. Iyer has already established himself as a good leader. He took Delhi Capitals (DC) to their maiden IPL final last year which they lost to Mumbai Indians in UAE. He is also consistent in leading the Capitals in the last two years.

His leadership qualities are developing with each passing game and is competing with the experienced skippers with the likes of MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the IPL.
He has done fairly good work with the bat too. His striking abilities at number 4 for DC have been crucial. He takes chances and when in need can play sensible innings. He can play spin quite easily which makes him a deadly weapon for the franchise.
He will be the first choice retention for DC going forward in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
Rishabh Pant:
The southpaw is going through the form of his life right now, as they say, ?whatever he touches turns it into gold?. His cricket has drastically taken a turn after he was dropped from India?s side. From being a desperate guy to hit boundaries to making himself one of the dependables in the side, Pant has been doing exceptionally well in these last six months or so.
In Vivo IPL 2021, he led DC in absence of Shreyas Iyer and did terrific work with six wins in eight games. With the added responsibility of leadership, his abilities behind the stumps and with the bat have improved. He can play as per the team?s requirement.
He has turned himself as an absolute game changer for India as well as for DC. There is no second thought on his retention terms.
Kagiso Rabada:
The Protea pacer Kagiso Rabada will be the third option in front of Delhi Capitals (DC) for the retention. He has evolved as a good T20 bowler. He was the leading wicket-taker in the delayed season of the IPL which was held in UAE and won the Purple Cap.
Back in 2018, DC did not opt to retain him however picked him again with the RTM card. However this time, the plans will be a bit different. DC might opt to pick him before the IPL 2022 Mega Auction due to his improved and lethal skills with the ball.
