The IPL retention rules have been announced and every franchise from now onwards is looking forward to having their strategies as they would have to make their retentions ahead of the mega-auction and manage their funds as well.
The Lucknow Super Giants since their arrival into the IPL in 2022, for the first time failed to make it into the playoffs, and hence they would look to reinforce their side. Even the Lucknow Super Giants do not have a very decorated camp to retain, except for the three huge overseas options they have.
After the controversy between KL Rahul, the LSG skipper and franchise owner, Sanjiv Goenka after their humiliating loss to the Sunrisers. Since then speculations have sparked that Rahul might part ways with the former franchise and many new franchises would be eyeing him considering his legacy in the IPL.
The Three Players who might be the most probable retentions for LSG:
3. Quinton De Kock
The Protea legend has been one of the greatest players in the shortest format of the game and has stepped in to play in almost every franchise cricket league in the world since the days he retired from international cricket.
QDK has been a part of the IPL for over a decade now, as he started his playing days with the Delhi Daredevils and gained most of the success with the Mumbai Indians. The Super Giants acquired him in the debut season of 2022, and he has been a star player at the top of the order.
After his blistering form in the CPL he might be retained ahead of the mega-auction as well.
2. Marcus Stoinis
Australian giant all-rounder, and currently placed World?s best ranked by ICC T20I all-rounder, Marcus Stoinis has been excellent with bat and the ball as well.
The Lucknow Super Giants, have had immense services from Marcus Stoinis, as he has starred as their most reliable batting option in the middle-order at no.3 or 4, while also has played a finishing role whenever the team needed him to do it with his amazing strikes towards the back end of the innings.
Stoinis has also emerged with the new ball occasionally in the powerplay, alongside picking valuable wickets, and hence Stoinis can be placed as the top priority to be retained.
1. Nicholas Pooran
The small packet big dynamite, the West Indian big-hitter was the best batter for the LSG in the previous season, considering his exceptional form since then across several global leagues.
Pooran was seen amazingly by his fans in The Hundred, while he also dominated single-handedly in the CPL for the Trinbago Knight Riders.
Pooran plays the best role of a finisher which is rare down the order in the form of a proper batter, and sighting his high demand, he will surely be retained by the Super Giants and might also be seen in a captains role, if Rahul is released ahead of the mega-auction.
