Cricket IPL 2022: 3 Spinners MI can buy if they fail to acquire Rahul Chahar in IPL 2022 Auction.

Cricket IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians (MI) have been a side that always believes in backing their squad regardless of their performances and outings in a couple of poor games.

Right from Rohit Sharma to the 12th man in the team, the defending champions have been at the top of their game. The team has won five IPL titles so far and the core in those seasons has been their main strength.

For the next season of the IPL, which will most probably bring two additional teams to the existing pool of eight, the franchise would love to start the campaign right from the Auction table.

In the Mega Auction, every franchise will have the liberty to retain five cricketers (via Retention card and Right To Match card) while every other will have to go through the auction table.

In this article, we will talk about the spinner Rahul Chahar. MI would want to acquire him in the auction and will leave no stone unturned to get his services yet again, however, if they fail to do that they might purchase some other spinners.

Here we will talk about three possible replacements for Rahul Chahar in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

3. Mayank Markande:

Mayank Markande

The Punjab spinner made it to headlines back in 2018 for Mumbai Indians when he troubled the batters with his accurate leg-spin. He was bought by the Mumbai franchise for his base price of INR 20 Lakhs and was retained in 2019 for the same amount.

The Indian Premier League 2018 remained his life-changing season as he bagged 15 wickets in 14 IPL games, however, his likes were overshadowed by the presence of Rahul Chahar in the year 2019.

He played just 3 games for MI in 2019 and was replaced by Rahul Chahar and since then he is out of the team.

In the IPL 2021 Auction, he was picked by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for a price of INR 2 Crores but did not get an opportunity to showcase his skills.

He can be a good backup option for Rahul Chahar if Mumbai Indians (MI) fails to pocket him in the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions.

2. Krishnappa Gowtham:

Krishnappa Gowtham

The Karnataka street cricket prodigy, Krishnappa Gowtham is an off-spinner and an explosive lower-order batter. He stepped into the IPL back in 2017 for Mumbai Indians (MI).

He got his first bid, which was surprisingly high for him, however did not get a good time with the star-packed franchise to perform. He was released by MI ahead of the IPL 2018 auction and eventually got a fresh contract with Rajasthan Royals.

He got his first break in the IPL game for RR and since then he has scalped 13 wickets in 24 games. He is also a brilliant batter who can easily score quick runs for his team at the end.

He hits with a strike rate of 169 and has scored over 150 runs.

If CSK releases him ahead of the IPL 2022 Auction, MI can bid for him and acquire his services for the next couple of years.

1. Mohammad Nabi:

The Afghanistan spinner Mohammad Nabi Plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and has experienced massive success in the shortest format of cricket.

Hyderabad likes Rashid Khan?s services more than what Mohammad Nabi offers to them and hence, he features very rarely in the playing11.

Mumbai Indians (MI) can easily acquire the services of Nabi in the next season as SRH will have to release him from the squad.

Since 2017, Nabi has scalped 13 wickets in 17 appearances at a brilliant economy of 6.72.

He is quite handy with a bat too. He can score runs at a firing rate at the back end and has amassed 177 runs striking over 150.
