5 Big Players who might go Unsold in the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions.
IPL 2022 Mega Auction: The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Mega Auction has already picked up the limelight after the two new IPL franchise has moved out in search of a strong support staff team. The gala Indian T20 tournament has been a festival for the fans and the other involved parties. With two new teams getting added, the league has become even more engaging for its viewers.
The BCCI has already started the retention process for the existing eight teams. They are allowed to retain four players and the retention process will run until the month-end (November). Following the retention of the existing eight teams, the two new added franchises will be given time to pick three players outside the IPL 2022 Mega Auction following which the IPL 2022 Mega Auction will be conducted.
With the franchise signing a three-year contract with most of the players, they will be actively looking for the young blood instead of the players who are on the wrong side of their 30s. However, this decision might not go well with a few players who have been constantly featuring in the IPL and now they can suddenly lose their place in the team either due to their age or performance.
This very article will target the 5 big players who might go unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Mega Auctions.
5 Big Players who might go UNSOLD in the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions:
Tim Southee:
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) roped in kiwi senior pacer Tim Southee as a replacement for unavailable Pat Cummins for the Indian Premier League (IPL) second leg in UAE. Southee, though, has a fantastic international record for New Zealand in T20Is, his outing in the IPL 2021 remained modest.
In spite of having several years of experience under his belt, Southee looked innocuous to the opposition. In the 3 matches he played during the second leg of IPL 2021, Southee managed just 3 wickets after conceding 95 runs in total.
The seasoned kiwi pacer is likely to get unsold in the upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

Chris Gayle:
The West Indies T20 legend, Chris Gayle, recently announced his semi-retirement plan and is soon to wave his goodbye to the field of cricket in the international circuit. The ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 is his last assignment as a player of West Indies in international cricket.
Chris Gayle?s batting prowess is second to none in the shortest format. Time and again he has proved his worth in the format and his stats clearly advocate for his role. Having scored a mammoth 14,321 runs alone in the T20 format shows nothing but just his brilliance and dominance in the format. He even has the most number of tons (22) under his belt in the T20 franchise cricket.
However, the recent few years have not been memorable for the ?Universe Boss?. If his IPL 2021 and T20 World Cup 2021 performances are analysed, he has only managed to score 193 from 10 innings in the IPL 2021 and a scanty 45 runs from 5 T20 World Cup 2021 innings.
With the franchises essentially looking for the youngsters, Chris Gayle is too old to fit into the criteria and play consistent and good cricket for the straight three years. The Universe Boss may get unsold in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
Harbhajan Singh:
Seasoned Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is also likely to go unsold in the coming auctions. Singh has played a vital role in several famous Indian wins in the past, however, his international career is approaching the end with age. He has not been active in international cricket for the last couple of years and his involvement in the IPL matches has been minimised, of late.
He just played three matches for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the early phase of IPL 2021 but was soon sidelined owing to poor performances. In the three games he played for KKR in IPL 2021, he was inefficient, to say the least, in picking up a single wicket.
Ajinkya Rahane:
Indian test vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane, has seen a dip in his white-ball performances in recent years. He has not been involved in India?s either white-ball squad of India for a couple of years now. His recent IPL performances are not encouraging either.
Rahane hasn't got many opportunities in Delhi Capitals (DC) in the last two IPL seasons. He just amassed 113 runs in nine IPL 2020 innings with a mere one-half century. In the last IPL season, Rahane was sidelined on most of the occasions, he featured in two matches and scored mere eight runs from it.
Analysing his inactiveness in the international white-ball circuit and his recent IPL performances, it won?t be surprising if he goes unsold in the coming IPL auction.
Eoin Morgan:
The English white-ball skipper Eoin Morgan faced a social media outrage during the IPL 2021. Though he took his side to the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season fourteen, his bat remained quiet until the end of the tournament.
Morgan was apt with his decision making on and off the field and owing to which his team made a complete turnaround to reach the final. However, his stylish bat hasn?t impressed anyone. The southpaw was finding it difficult to regain his lost form in the IPL 2021 and totalled just 133 runs from 17 matches.
It is interesting to note, Morgan returned back to his form and was amongst runs as soon as he donned England's T20 World Cup jersey.
Captain Morgan is highly unlikely to get an IPL contract in the coming season. If he needs one, he will have to prove his worth, firing hard with his blade.
