IND vs AUS: Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah scripts history by becoming the first bowler to achieve the milestone of 50 Test wickets in the current calendar year of 2024. He becomes the third Indian pacer after legendary Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan to accomplish this feat.
During the second Test match between India and Australia in Adelaide, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed opener Usman Khawaja for a score of 13 runs in 35 balls. The Indian pacer delivered a full-length ball towards the fifth stump, which nicked the bat of Khawaja and went straight to the hands of captain Rohit Sharma in slip. With this wicket, he became the first bowler to take 50 Test wickets in 2024.
Jasprit Bumrah has been the crisis man for the Indian cricket team in multiple formats over the past few years, consistently delivering under pressure and proving his mettle in challenging situations. Whether it’s breaking crucial partnerships, defending low totals, or providing breakthroughs at key moments, Bumrah’s ability to adapt and excel across formats has made him an indispensable asset.
His lethal yorkers, deceptive slower deliveries, and remarkable consistency have not only won matches for India but also earned him the reputation of being one of the finest bowlers in world cricket.
Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is following the path towards the iconic milestone with 46 Test wickets to his name.
