Australia achieved a massive feat in Test cricket for the first time since 2014/15. The Pat Cummins-led side posted a total of over 400 in an innings for the first time in 11 Tests across three home series against India.  

Australia achieved the feat during the second day of the ongoing third Test against India. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 match between the teams is taking place at the Gabba in Brisbane as the match commenced on Saturday (14th December). 

Australia took command of the game on day two of the ongoing third Test against India at the Gabba in Brisbane. The Pat Cummins-led side had a great day with the bat, piling up over 400 runs with the bat and putting the India bowlers under pressure, putting skipper Rohit Sharma under the pump. 

Australia openers Usman Khawaja (21) and Nathan McSweeney couldn't make a bigger impact with the bat on Day two as they perished early. Marnus Labuschagne had the same fate as the hosts was left at 73 for three as it seemed India would have a great day.

However, after that Travis Head (152) and Steve Smith (101) came up with the rescue charge and took the game away for India. The duo slammed their respective tons and added 241 runs for the fourth wicket, taking the team past 300 runs. 

India made a slight comeback as they picked quick wickets, with Jasprit Bumrah taking another fifer, his second in the series. Alex Carey (45*) hit some valuable runs in the end as Australia ended day two with 405, achieving a massive feat after a decade. 

With this, it marked the first instance when Australia crossed 400+ runs Total against India in Australia in Test Cricket since the 2014/15 series.

India would be hoping to make a comeback in the match by picking quick wickets. Australia on the other hand would want to go past 450 runs and completely take the game away from India.
