Jason Gillespie's resignation as the red-ball coach of Pakistan raised many speculations as to why he took the decision ahead of the South Africa series.

On Thursday (12th December), the Pakistan Team faced a massive blow ahead of the two-match Test series against South Africa. Red-ball coach of the team, Jason Gillespie, stepped down from the role, and it created massive havoc in cricket in Pakistan.

Jason Gillespie's resignation as the red-ball coach of Pakistan raised many speculations as to why he took the decision ahead of the South Africa series. However, a day later, a few of the massive reasons behind the development were made, revealing his tiff with the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The reports in Cricket Pakistan claimed that Jason Gillespie stepped down from the role because the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) didn't meet his demands. The tensions between him and the board began when the former Australia cricketer was excluded from the selection committee.

Jason Gillespie wanted to take charge of both red-ball as well as white-ball teams with increased salary, PCB declines

It is learned that Jason Gillespie wanted to take charge of both red-ball as well as white-ball teams. But he demanded a salary increase, which was declined by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi as they weren't keen to give this much money.

Also, it is learned that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wanted Jason Gillespie to spend more time in Pakistan. They wanted the coach to stay there even when there were no series and to work at the grassroots level, helping the team find some young talents.

But Jason Gillespie wasn't keen to stay in Pakistan apart from the time when the series was played. He, along with Gary Kirsten, who recently resigned as the white-ball coach, also wanted the support staff of their own choice, but that too wasn't accepted by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

PCB appoints Aaqib Javed as the interim red-ball head coach for South Africa series

With Jason Gillespie stepping down as the red-ball coach, Pakistan has appointed Aaqib Javed as the interim red-ball head coach. He would want to make an impact in the series as the Shan Masood-led side would be looking to create history and win.

This notably was the second major resignation coming from the Pakistan camp. Earlier, white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten stepped down for the same reasons following the Pakistan Cricket Board didn't agree to their demands.
