The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Thursday announced Afghanistan's 17-member squad. Opener batsman Ibrahim Zadran has been ruled out of the three-match series against South Africa due to a left ankle sprain, while right-arm offbreak bowler Mujeeb ur Rahman has not been selected in the squad due to a right phalanx sprain.

Afghanistan selectors have included Abdul Malik in the team to fill the void of opener Ibrahim Zadran. Abdul has an excellent record in domestic cricket. Darwish Rasooli, who is an upper-order batsman, has also been selected in the team. Rasooli has played seven matches for Afghanistan so far in which his record was not very good as he scored only 51 runs.
