India fast bowler Akash Deep talked about the plans the team has made to stop the Australia batter Travis Head in the last two games of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He revealed that they will be using the short ball ploy against the batter early in his innings.

Australia batter Travis Head has been the biggest nightmare of the Indian team in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The left-hander has troubled the Rohit Sharma-led side a lot in the series and the bowlers so far seem to have no answers to the carnage by him.

Travis Head is the leading run-getter in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and this surely reveals the kind of impact that he has made. The batter has batted with sheer dominance and has hardly put a foot wrong in the series, which has seen three games being played so far.

Travis Head slammed a solid half-century in the Perth Test and followed it up with a dominating ton in the pink-ball Test. If this was not enough, the batter hit another brutal ton in the Gabba game and took the game away from India.

We’ll target specific areas and hope to force him into mistakes - Akash Deep on Travis Head

With Indian bowlers struggling against Travis Head, Akash Deep leaked the plan of the Indian team to bowl against the batter. He said that they will be sticking to the same deliveries and maintaining discipline in their bowling.

He pointed out that the batter struggles to get going against short balls and they will try to execute that and won't let the batter settle at all. While speaking to reporters, he explained:

"As fast bowlers, we will stick to the same deliveries and maintain discipline in our bowling. We will bowl from both over and around the wicket, assess the pitch and conditions, and plan accordingly.

"I think Travis Head, in particular, struggles against short balls. We won’t let him settle at the crease. We’ll target specific areas and hope to force him into mistakes, which will create chances for us."

Overall in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Travis Head has scored 409 runs at an average of 81.80, with two centuries and an 89-run knock. He would be keen to carry on and help Australia win the last two games of the series.
