The India VS Pakistan game of Asia Cup 2022 was something very interesting. The game had a lot of learnings for an avid cricket fan. The Indian bowling lineup has struggled in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. Pakistan has a decent finisher in the form of Asif Ali. Catches win Matches is one of the biggest lessons from this game. So, what are the other important lessons? Here is an in-depth look:
Asia Cup 2022: Catches Win you Matches:
The first big lesson for Arshdeep Singh and world cricket is that you need to hold on to every catching opportunity. You cannot let these chances slip. Arshdeep Singh might be disappointed when it was Asif Ali who finished the game because when Asif was at 0, Arshdeep dropped his catch at the short-third man. Arshdeep is now subjected to online trolling like every other individual with tough times, but this is a very big learning for Arsh. He will excel and work on dealing with catches in such pressure situations.
Asia Cup 2022: Asif Ali and Mohammad Nawaz are Great Finishers:
A question that came out of the syllabus for the Indian cricket team was that of Mohamad Nawaz. The Indian bowling lineup looked unsettled when he came in to attack them at number 4. The bowlers did not have a plan for him. It seemed that they never expected Nawaz to come up with the order. They did try to bowl the traditional short pitch deliveries and yorkers but Nawaz was up for the task. He was the game changer and the true match winner for Pakistan yesterday.
Indian Bowling Lacks Wicket Taking Options:
The lack of wicket-taking options was visible in the game against Pakistan. The bowling looked a bit disoriented too. Wicket-taking options like Bumrah and Shardul Thakur were required. Thakur may at times go for runs but he has the knack for taking wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal, the top wicket-taker was taken for runs and he was put on the back foot by the Pakistanis. But no other bowler could cover up for Yuzi. It is bound to happen that Yuzi will have a bad day. Bhuvi too had a decent day. On such occasions, Rohit should have tried Deepak Hooda?s option. It will be great to see if Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah will be fit to play at the ICC T20 World Cup.
