ASIA Cup 2022: VVS Laxman may be appointed as Interim India Team Coach.

Rahul Dravid, the head coach of team India has tested positive for COVID-19. His availability during the initial stage of the Asia Cup is doubtful. BCCI confirmed the news through a press release on Tuesday, 23rd August. VVS Laxman may call as interim coach for the upcoming ASIA Cup 2022.

BCCI tweeted the update

JAY SHAH, Honorary Secretary of BCCI wrote that "Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test conducted ahead of the team?s departure to the UAE for Asia Cup 2022. 

Mr. Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team once he returns with a negative COVID-19 report. The rest of the team will assemble in UAE on 23rd August 2022."

In his absence, National Cricket Academy (NCA) director VVS Laxman may take over the reins of the Indian team.

India will face Pakistan on 28th August in Dubai, UAE. And India's second match is against the qualifier team on 31st August.
