Asia Cup 2023 Points Table Updated: Albeit not convincing, India managed to get themselves through to the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s with the win over Nepal in match 5 in the Pallekele, last night. Rohit Sharma and his boys registered a 10-wicket victory over Nepal in a rain-curtailed game. To be fair and square, India has disappointed its fans and perhaps themselves with their performance against Nepal. The bowlers, who had so much experience under their belt, were made to toil hard by the Nepali batters. Even, the fielding was horrendous as they dropped three catches inside the first five overs of play.

Kudos to Nepal, who managed to post a competitive total of 230 runs before getting wrapped up in the game. The Nepali openers were outstanding as they provided a rampaging start to the innings. Subsequently, the middle order played a few knocks to post a good total against big boys India.

India in pursuit of 230 run total was always going to be the favourites to win the battle. The equation was soon reduced to 145 runs in 23 overs following a long delay due to rain.

The start was nervy from the Indian openers, however, both of them quickly got into the groove and looked threatening. Skipper Rohit Sharma quickly shifted his gears after settling down and then it was just one-way traffic for India.

Team India won the chase by 10 wickets with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill remaining unbeaten at 74* and 67* runs respectively. The Indian skipper was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant knock.

The win also helped India qualify for the Asia Cup 2023. After Pakistan and Bangladesh, India became the third team to enter the next round of the continental tournament.
