Since the last few months, there have been a lot of speculations about Steve Smith's retirement. The batter too hinted about it a lot of times, which raised quite a few eyebrows. However, now all has been cleared as he himself has mentioned that he will continue playing.
The talks related to Steve Smith?s emerged when David Warner announced his Test retirement. The opener will be calling time on his career after the Test series against Pakistan. Many felt that with Warner announcing his retirement, Smith being in his late 30s would retire too.?
Steve Smith no doubt will go down as one of the best Test batters in the history of cricket. He has been the backbone of the Australia Test team for the last one decade and is the best Test batter of our generation without a doubt.?
Steve Smith has the most Test centuries for Australia and is also among the top five run-getters for his side in the longest format of the game. While his class in this format is unmatchable, he also has been an incredible servant in the white-ball.
Smith recently played a huge role in Australia clinching their 6th World Cup title. He has won the title two titles two times along with winning on T20 World Cup and World Test Championship as well. Him turning down his retirement plans will be a huge relief for cricket lovers.

Steve Smith will next be seen in action when Australia will take on Pakistan in the three-match Test series. This will be the beginning of the Australian summer and the batter will have to play a huge role if they wish to extend their dominance in the longest format of the game.?
Steve Smith is an absolute beast in home conditions. If Pakistan can keep him quiet in the series, it?s fair to say that they will have a good chance to win.
