Australia vs India: BCCI filed a complaint against purported racial abuse of Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah.
Australia vs India: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday filed a complaint against purported racial abuse of Siraj and Bumrah. BCCI top officials have informed the match officials of the ongoing third test match at Sydney Cricket Ground about the alleged racial abuse of the two Indian players.
According to the reports in The Daily Telegraph, at the end of the play of Day 3 on Saturday the scenes at SCG turned bitter with visitors accusing the crowd of abusing Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj.
The stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane informed the match officials and on-field umpires about the misdeed with two Indian players after a long formal discussion with the senior players and officials of the Indian camp.
BCCI on Saturday lodged a complaint:
?BCCI lodged a formal complaint with ICC match referee David Boon about two of their players Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj being abused by a drunk spectator,? a source told PTI.
Back in 2008, cricket saw its first case of racial abuse in the India-Australia series at Sydney Cricket Ground. Australia?s Andrew Symonds had complained of the racist comment. Symonds accused Harbhajan Singh of calling him a monkey which is racial abuse. After a long court battle, Harbhajan Singh was banned for three test matches.
Australia took the hold of the game after bundling the visitors on 244. The hosts are now standing tall with the lead of 197 and Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne leading the charge.
For India, Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara scored half-centuries. India seems to be in a bit of trouble as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was taken for scans after getting struck on bowling thumb and arm respectively.
