Babar Azam creates history in Karachi vs New Zealand, broke the world record of runs, Kohli left behind

Pakistan Men's National Cricket Team's elite batter Babar Azam has created history in the Final of the Triangular series between Pakistan & New Zealand which is being played in Karachi. The 30-year-old got dismissed after scoring 29 runs but he broke a massive world record of runs. His 29 run innings has also helped him to leave behind Virat 'The Legendary' Kohli. 

The Shaheens won the toss in Karachi and opted to wear the pads first. At the time of writing this article, the Mohammad Rizwan-led team scored 127 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in 31 overs. The duo of Babar & Fakhar came out to open the inning for the home side. While the latter got dismissed after scoring 10 runs, the former went back to pavilion after playing a decent knock of 29 runs in 34 deliveries. His knock consisted of four fours and a six and he also completed 6000 runs in One-Day Cricket in this match

Babar Azam becomes the joint-fastest batter to score 6000 runs in ODIs

With his completion of 6000 runs in ODI Cricket, Babar has created the world record of becoming the joint fastest player to reach this feat. He completed this accomplishment in 123 innings and South African legend Hashim Amla also did it in the same number of innings. The former Pakistani skipper has slammed 19 hundreds and 34 fifties in the 50 over format.

Babar surpassed Kohli-

In fact, Virat Kohli completed 6000 runs in ODIs in 136 innings. Whereas Babar achieved this milestone in 123 innings. Babar has surpassed Kohli as well as Kane Williamson and David Warner. Williamson achieved this feat in 139 innings. Whereas Warner also completed 6000 runs in 139 innings.

Babar can show his talent in Champions Trophy -

If we take a close look at the last few innings of the 30-year-old in the format, then we get to know that he has not been able to do anything special with the bat. But, in the forthcoming Champions Trophy 2025, he can surely overcome his rough patch and make a comeback. He got out after managing to score just 10 runs in the Lahore Tri-Series match versus the Kiwis and after this, he returned to the dugout after amassing just 23 runs in Karachi versus the Proteas.
