The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the discussion for the two new IPL franchises apart from the appointment of India?s ICC representative and three national selectors. However, according to the reports the main motive to hold the meeting is to get a green signal for the two new Indian Premier League Franchises.
Approval for two new Franchises:
BCCI will seek approval for the new franchise to make the existing pool of 8 franchise to 10 in 2011. The Adani?s and Sanjeev Goenka?s RPG Group (owner of Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS)) are two major parties interested in owning the cash-rich league?s team. Some reports suggest that one of the two franchises will be based on Ahmedabad for sure.
India's Representative to ICC:
Other important topics in the Annual General Meeting will be India?s representative to International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council. However, the most significant name for the positions in global Councils is Jay Sah. He is currently the secretary of BCCI.
The Appointment of three new national selectors along with the chairman of selectors is another major point of discussion in the meet.
Apart from these major points, the All Umpire?s sub-committee will also be formed and issues related to National Cricket Acadamy (NCA) will also be given time in the deliberations.
The agenda will also discuss the future tour programs for India in 2021-22, preparations related to next year?s World Cup (ICC Tax issue), and the inclusion of Cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
After the resignation of vice president Mahim vera, the post has been vacant and discussion on that will also be done.
