BCCI confident to organise the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 in India.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently congratulated the Emirates Cricket Board and other organising groups for successfully wrapping season fourteen of the Vivo IPL 2021. Chennai Super Kings, once again, emerged as the winner of the cash-rich Indian T20 tournament defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final by a margin of 27 runs in Dubai.

The league was initially scheduled in India, but covid cases reported by two IPL franchises halted the proceedings and the tournament was unfortunately shifted to UAE. However, the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is confident and expecting next year?s IPL in India itself in front of the packed Indian crowd.

The Indian cricket board is gearing well to induct two new IPL teams from the next edition, making the tournament a 10-team affair. The Invitation to Tender (ITT) document to own two new franchises is released by the board and more details on the same are awaited.

Ganguly in his recent online conversation said that the Indian tournament should go back to India in the next edition. 

"I hope so, because it's India's tournament," Ganguly said indicating the IPL 2022 moving to its home venue.

"As much as you see the superb atmosphere in Dubai, it's different in India. It's absolutely madness in India with the stands full. We'd love to have it back in India."

The covid situation in India is constantly improving with the increase in the vaccination drive across India. The country reported fresh 15,981 covid cases and are decreasing with each passing day.

The covid situation in India will be much different and it will be safer to organise the event like IPL with jam-packed stands with crowds.

"I'm sure in the next seven-eight months, the COVID-19 situation will be very different, and we can host it in India with packed stands and the supporters pouring,? said Ganguly.

T20 World Cup 2021 is going to be a high scoring tournament: Sourav Ganguly

Seeing most of the matches in IPL 2021 second leg going as low scoring, a few believed that the World Cup will also be a low scoring tournament as the surface has a tendency to go towards the slower side.

However, Ganguly begged to differ and believe that besides Sharjah Cricket Ground, the other three grounds will produce a belter of contests between the two sides.

"I don't think so. Maybe in Sharjah, it will be because of the wickets. But Dubai is an absolute belter," Ganguly said.

"Abu Dhabi will be a great surface to bat on, and it's going to be a great World Cup."

Team India will take on Pakistan on 24th October in Dubai to begin their World Cup 2021 campaign.
