The IPL governing body has slapped a 25 percent fine on Punjab Kings all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who was fined 25 percent of his match fee for his unsportsmanlike conduct during Tuesday's match against Chennai Super Kings.

Priyansh Arya's lightning century

As part of IPL-2025, Punjab and Chennai faced each other at the Mullanpur venue. Punjab, who won the toss on their home ground, batted first. Opener Priyansh Arya scored a devastating century (103 off 42 balls), while Shashank Singh (52 not out off 36 balls) and Marco Jansen (34 not out off 19 balls) shone in the lower order.

With this, all the other batters queued up for the pavilion.. But captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (1) disappointed once again.. Shivam Dubey impressed with 42 runs in 27 balls. In the end, Dhoni entertained the Punjab Crowd with his batting. He scored 27 runs in 12 balls. But he wasn't able to help his team secure the win. In this match, which was thrilling until the last over, Chennai lost to Punjab by 18 runs.

Maxwell didn't perform well versus CSK

Glenn Maxwell failed to bat in this match as well. Coming in at number six, he faced two balls and was caught by Ashwin's bowling and retreated. However, Rachin Ravindra took a key wicket and played his part in Punjab's victory. But he had to face punishment for inappropriate behavior.

"Glenn Maxwell has committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct, according to a statement from the IPL governing council. He has agreed to the match referee's ruling in this matter,"The IPL said in a statement, "We make the deduction from his match fee in compliance with the regulations."

Similarly, Maxi was given a demerit point. However, it was not clear for which incident he was fined. According to Article 2.2 of the rules formulated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), such strict action will be taken if someone deliberately kicks or kicks wickets, damages advertisement boards, boundary fencing, dressing room mirrors, windows, etc.
