India vs England Test Series: BCCI to allow 50 per-cent crowd for 2nd Test match.
India vs England Test Series: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) have decided to allow 50 per cent crowd for the 2nd India-England test match at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
After the fresh Covid-19 guidelines were announced by the government which ease the public movement and allows sports with 50 per-cent crowd, the TNCA members discussed the matter with the BCCI officials. The move was later cleared and it was concluded that the fans will be allowed into the stadium.
?We discussed the issue of allowing spectators for second India vs England Test following fresh COVID-19 guidelines by the Central government permitting crowds at sporting venues and also the state government?s SOPs given on Sunday,? the TNCA official told PTI.
?It has been decided that BCCI and TNCA will allow 50 per-cent fans into the stadium for the second test match with all safety rules and regulations.?
Fans allowed for the third and fourth test:
MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai can host 50,000 fans at a time.
The first test between India and England will begin on 05th February while the second will start from 13th February at MA Chidambaram Stadium. While the BCCI and Gujrat Cricket Association (GCA) has already approved the entry of fans to the grounds for the third and fourth test match. The last two test matches will be conducted at refurbished Sardar Vallabh Bhai Stadium, Ahmedabad.
The media will also be allowed to report from the ground during the third and fourth test match.
Earlier both BCCI and TNCA chose to host the games behind the closed gates but after the covid-19 rules and regulations were revised by the government, fans will be allowed to enter.
As there is no time for the opening encounter that is why it will be held with the spectators.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had requested that matches be played behind closed doors. An ECB spokesperson said it would react only after getting an official communication from the BCCI.
?We are not going to comment on speculation. We are still waiting to hear from the BCCI in terms of their protocols for the forthcoming Test series,? the spokesperson asserted.
