BCCI to penalise foreign players who pulled out of Tata IPL 2022: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering a punishment and strict action against foreign players who pull out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the last moment. In the recent past, we have seen a lot of cases where overseas players withdraw from the elite T20 tournament citing inadequate reasons, at the last moment, after getting picked at the auction.

In the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League, English players Jason Roy (Gujarat Titans) and Alex Hales (Kolkata Knight Riders) pulled out of the tournament citing bubble fatigue.

In the recently held meeting of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council, the office bearers took a close look into the matter and promised to come up with some solid and strict actions against such cricketers.?

According to the reports of Cricbuzz, a few IPL franchises have presented their concerns following the increase in the number of overseas players pulling out of the Tata IPL.

?The GC has a commitment towards the franchises who are the important stakeholders of the league. They bid for a player after a lot of planning. Their calculations go haywire if a player pulls out, that too for flimsy reasons,? said a GC member. 

It was further learnt that measures will be taken after hearing specific cases. The genuine acceptable reasons will be secured from the punishment, however, players with inadequate explanations will have to face strict action.

?There will not be a sweeping policy that everyone who has pulled out of the IPL will be prevented for a certain number of years. It will be on a case-by-case basis and some research will be done before action is initiated. What if the reason is genuine,? a source added. 

England batter Jason Roy cited that he wants to spend quality time with his family and also wants to work on his cricket over the next couple of months. Ahead of the IPL 2022, a busy schedule awaits England cricket.

?I feel it is only right that I spend some quality time with my family. As well as spending time on myself and my game over the next couple of months, leading into a very busy year,? Roy said.
