Bharat Arun has joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as bowling coach for IPL 2022: Former Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun has joined the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the upcoming edition of the Indian tournament. The franchise confirmed the development through a social media post on Friday (January 14th).

It must be noted that Arun?s tenure as team India?s bowling coach ended recently after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The former right-arm pacer was in Ravi Shastri?s coaching panel in the Indian team and served for several years.

Indian bowlers achieved scalable heights under the shadow of Arun. Team India?s daunting pace attack is formed under Bharat Arun?s coaching stint.

It is noteworthy that Bharat Arun was previously associated with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from 2015 to 2017. However, the coach had to resign from his role due to the conflict of interest issue.

?I?m very excited and looking forward to becoming part of a highly successful franchise, such as the Knight Riders. I have admired the Knight Riders franchise for not only being very successful in the IPL & around the world in T20 leagues but also for the way it is very professionally run,? said Arun in a statement shared by KKR.

Bharat Arun, who himself have represented India at the highest levels, knows the challenges faced by the bowlers. He successfully dealt with the obstacles and took the bowling unit to new heights.

KKR CEO Venky Mysore also expressed his excitement after the appointment of Bharat Arun as KKR?s new bowling coach.

?We are very excited to have someone of the calibre of Bharat Arun joining us as our bowling coach. He will bring a wealth of experience and expertise to KKR?s strong support staff. We are delighted to welcome him to the Knight Riders family,? said Venky Mysore.

KKR?s head coach Brendon McCullum reckons Arun?s experience as valuable and will help the franchise break the shackles in the future.

?With a strong and successful pedigree in the international game, I?m sure Arun will complement the current staff we have and I look forward to working with him. His experience at international level and the ability to give confidence and clarity to our bowling group will be important, as we attempt to quickly align a new group of players to the values and style of play for KKR,? said the former New Zealand skipper.
