Cameron Green's back-injury rules him out of the England series, doubtful for 2024 Border Gavaskar Trophy

In what proves to be a huge blow for the Australian Men's National Cricket Team, the participation of ace Fast-Bowling All-Rounder Cameron Green in the high-intensity Border Gavaskar 2024 Test-Series versus India is looking unlikely.

According to Cricket Australia, the 25-year-old suffered a back-injury which has forced him to miss the remainder of the ongoing five-match One-Day International series versus England.

The Fast-Bowling All-Rounder complained of soreness in his back following Australia?s crushing-defeat in the third One-Day International at Riverside Cricket Ground, Chester-Le-Street. He underwent scans in London after the incident and the results showed that he has suffered a back-injury, ruling him out of the 4th One-Day International at the Lord's Cricket Ground, London.

According to the news report, it's looking really difficult for Green to regain 100% match-fitness and make himself available for selection in time for the highly-important home Test-Series versus India.

A spokesperson of the Aussies revealed that the All-Rounder?s recovery-status would not be known till he flies back home in Perth for further-assessment.

What kind of impact will Cameron Green's absence have on Australia's World Test Championship 2023-25 campaign?

At present, the Australians are sitting at the second position in the overall standings of the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.

So, the upcoming Border-Gavaskar 2024 Test-Series gives the Kangaroos a golden-opportunity to dethrone their arch-rivals at the top of the table and significantly boost their hopes of qualifying for the WTC 2023-25 final at the Lord's Cricket Stadium.

In such a situation, Green's absence will prove to be a massive-miss for the Mighty Aussies, as the 25-year-old has proven to be a really valuable-asset on home soil. His ability to get crucial breakthroughs with the ball makes him an irresistible all-round option.

He has performed exceptionally well in the longest format of the game, scoring 302 runs, including an outstanding unbeaten knock of 174* runs versus New Zealand, in four Test-Matches earlier this year.

However, if Green's back-injury rules him out of the upcoming Border Gavaskar series, then the Pat Cummins-led team might be tempted to hand Aaron Hardie his first ever Test-call-up for the India series.

The defending WTC champions are going to host the Indian Cricket Team in a five-match Test-Series, with the opening encounter set to take place at the Optus Cricket Stadium, Perth from the 22nd of November onwards.
