Iyer winning this award means that India has won this award twice in a row. Highly-rated youngster Shubman Gill had previously won this award for the month of February. This is only the second time in history that two Indian male players have won this award consecutively.
Iyer scored 172 runs in 3 matches in March at an average of 57.33. He scored 79 runs off 98 balls against the Mitchell Satner-led New Zealand in the Champions Trophy group A match, which included 4 fours and 2 sixes. He contributed significantly to India's victory over Australia in the semi-finals as well. He scored 45 runs off 62 deliveries and 48 runs off 62 deliveries against the Blackcaps in the final.
<h2>This happened for the second time in history</h2>
For the first time in 2021, the Player of the Month award was won by 3 Indian male players consecutively. Rishabh Pant got this award for January, Ravichandran Ashwin for February and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for March. Since then, it has never happened that this award was given to Indian players twice in a row by the ICC. Now this has happened for the second time in history.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the list of 10 best deliveries of Champions Trophy 2025. in which five deliveries are from fast bowlers and five balls are from spinners. The 10 best balls of Champions Trophy include two from India, four from Pakistan, one each from Bangladesh, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 concluded successfully with India winning the title. The tournament was hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a hybrid model with Rohit Sharma-led side playing all their games at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. 
It was the first time in 29 years that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hosted an ICC event. There were a lot of questions about successfully staging the tournament, especially with security threats in the country. But the governing body proved everyone wrong and delivered a blockbuster tournament. 
The tournament began on 19th February, and the final was played on 9th March at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. It was the Rohit Sharma-led side, who emerged winners as they won the tournament undefeated. 
Following the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, PCB expressed their displeasure with ICC. The host nation lodged an official complaint after the global Cricket body didn't allow their official to go on the stage during the Trophy presentation following India's win. 
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi couldn't go to Dubai for the final due to personal reasons, but it was CEO Sumair Ahmed who went to attend the final. But he wasn't allowed to go on the stage as officials from BCCI, ICC and NZC took centre stage.
The ICC immediately replied to the PCB's complaint and didn't agree to their demands. They mentioned that it was against their protocols, and hence, Sumair Ahmed wasn't asked to go on the stage for the trophy presentation.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi: The global governing body of Cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has provided an explanation regarding why no officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were present on stage during the presentation ceremony of the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai. 
The ICC gave clarifications regarding this matter after India Today asked them about the absence of PCB's representatives at such a big event. 
According to an ICC spokesperson, Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was invited to attend the Champions Trophy 2025 Final award ceremony but he didn't come. 
"Mr Mohsin Naqvi wasn't available and he didn't travel to Dubai for the Champions Trophy Final," the spokesperson said. 
Cricket experts &amp; fans raised concerns about the absence of Pakistani representatives during the award ceremony. In response, the Global Cricket Governing Body explained that it follows the same rules for all of their tournaments.
<h2>Why were no one from the PCB at the Champions Trophy Final award ceremony? </h2>
"Only the head of the host board, such as the chairman, CEO, president, or vice president, is invited by the ICC to attend the awards event. Even if they are at the location, other board officials are not allowed to get involved in the stage operations", the spokesperson stated. 
The Global Cricket Governing Body made it clear that this particular rule was not just specifically used for the Champions Trophy, but it is applicable to all the tournaments held by the ICC. The only reason no PCB was present on stage during the presentation ceremony was that the designated delegate of Pakistan didn't attend the event. 
However, some news reports claim that the Pakistan Cricket Board is unhappy with the situation and they are planning to raise this particular issue with the ICC. They will be asking why Sameer Ahmed Syed, the CEO of the PCB, was not invited to be a part of the awards distribution ceremony despite being present at the venue as the director of the tournament. 
"Despite the fact that a significant PCB official was present in Dubai, it is alarming that Pakistan was not represented at the closing ceremony," a source stated.
The all-important summit clash of the eight-team tournament took place in the city of Dubai after the Indian team wasn't allowed to play their matches in Pakistan due to the Indian Government's refusal to send them to their neighboring country.
