Champions Trophy: Who will win if the India-New Zealand Final ends in tie or gets abandoned?

India and New Zealand will clash for the Champions Trophy title at the Dubai International Stadium tomorrow. The final will begin at 2.30 pm Indian time. Fans are expecting a thrilling encounter as India, who have arrived undefeated, and the Kiwis, who have only lost to India, clash in the final.

The ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025, which is being hosted by Pakistan, has seen many matches abandoned due to rain, raising concerns among fans about tomorrow's final. Although the weather is likely to be overcast, there is no rain forecast in Dubai tomorrow.

However, if the final cannot be completed due to rain or the match ends in a tie, the question on the fans' minds is who will win the title.

What will happen if the match ends as a tie?

Fans will remember the 2019 World Cup final between England and New Zealand, which ended in a tie. That time, the match was tied in the Super Over, and England won the World Cup on the basis of the team that hit more boundaries in the stipulated overs.

However, the ICC later removed that rule, which was widely criticized. Therefore, if the match is tied tomorrow, another Super Over will be held. If it is still tied, the winners will be determined in the Super Over again.

Who will win the title if the match is abandoned due to rain?

Although the chances of rain in Dubai are slim, there is also the question of who will be the winner if the match is abandoned due to rain. The ICC has announced the 10th of March ae the reserve day for the summit clash.

In this situation, if tomorrow's match is abandoned without a result, then both teams will compete versus each other on the reserve day and if the reserve day gets washed out, then both of them will be declared as joint winners. India and Sri Lanka were joint winners in 2002.
