Vivo IPL 2021: Ravindra Jadeja?s all round show helped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hammer the table toppers Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 69 runs in the 19th game of Vivo IPL 2021 at Wankhede Stadium.
Opting to bat first, CSK had a solid opening stand between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis. Young opener Gaikwad scored 33 from 25 balls with four boundaries and a six while du Plessis smacked his half-century.
Southpaw Suresh Raina coming to bat after the dismissal of Gaikwad scored quickfire 24 off 18 with three towering sixes and a four.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja accelerated the innings at the backend and smashed RCB bowlers all over the park. Jadeja amassed a whopping 37 runs off the purple cap holder Harshal Patel in an over. He hit five sixes and a four to finish the CSK innings against Harshal Patel in the 20th over.
Jadeja?s hurried unbeaten 62 off 28 deliveries helped CSK post 191 on board in the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.
Chasing 192 RCB had a brisk start. Opener Devdutt Padikkal continued his innings from where he left in the previous game. He amassed 34 runs of just 15 balls with the help of four boundaries and two sixes.
While Sam Curran provided the initial breakthrough as he dismissed skipper Virat Kohli in the 4th over. Good looking Padikkal was also sent back by Shardul Thakur in the subsequent over.
Chennai bowlers didn't let the RCB batters settle down, taking timely wickets.
Promoted to bat earlier, Washington Sundar (7 from 11) was also dismissed cheaply by Ravindra Jadeja followed by the wicket of AB de Villiers (4 off 9) and Glenn Maxwell (22 off 15).
RCB could only manage to score 122 runs in 20 overs in the loss of nine wickets.
All rounder Ravindra Jadeja picked three crucial scalps and was given the ?Man of the Match? award for his brilliant presence. Imran Tahir got two while Sam Curran and Shardul Thakur picked one apiece.
With the win, CSK becomes the new table toppers with 8 points and a exceptional net run rate of +1.612 while RCB slips down to second place.
