Covid norms blatantly breached by fans as India host New Zealand in 1st T20 in Jaipur.

India vs New Zealand: As India welcomes back fans and international cricket to the country following month-long halts, the covid norms were violated by the fans blatantly as they show up to support team India in the first T20I against New Zealand in Jaipur?s Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Almost half of the crowd that came to witness the live game between India and New Zealand were without their masks. Even the local police officials were seen without their masks on, destroying the rules and regulations in the first place.

The BCCI asked fans to bring their vaccination certificate or a negative RT-PCR report to get an entry in Jaipur?s Sawai Mansingh Stadium for the first T20I match between India and New Zealand.

The fans were excited about the return of international cricket to their city after eight long years of wait. The last International Match played in Sawai Mansingh Stadium was against Australia in 2013, while no T20I matches were organised in this ground prior to today?s game.

The fans in record numbers were present in a beeline outside the ground but not more than a small fraction of fans cared to wear a mask.

"I have come here with my son since I got a complimentary pass. The food items sold here are very expensive," said a local resident Anil Gupta inside the stadium.

When enquired whether the guards outside the ground asked for their vaccination certificate or RT-PCR test, the fan replied with a blunt ?no?.

As of now the equation between both the teams is evenly poised. For New Zealand, Mark Chapman scored a good half-century while Martin Guptil is still going hard unbeaten at 56 from 37 deliveries.

The kiwis have managed to score 131 runs in the loss of three wickets in 16 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck in his very first over while Ravi Ashwin picked two in quick succession in 14th over.
