Cricket Australia ready to organise a tri-series between India, Pakistan and Australia.

Cricket Australia?s chief Nick Hockley has said that the cricket board would be open to organising a tri-series consisting of India and Pakistan to revive cricket between the two Asian arch-rivals.?

It?s no secret that all the fans want India and Pakistan to face each other in the field of cricket quite frequently, however, due to border tensions and political disturbances between the two nations it simply can?t happen.

India and Pakistan cricket contests are, at present, confined to just ICC fixtures. Both the sides face each other in World Cups. The last time India faced Pakistan was in 2021 during the ICC T20 World Cup held in the UAE.

The two Asian cricket giants last engaged in a bilateral series long back in 2012 when India hosted Pakistan for white-ball matches.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, Ramiz Raja, earlier in January proposed a four-nation series between India, Pakistan, Australia and England. The series would be hosted on a rotation basis by each nation.

Though CA head Nick Hockley said that he hasn?t discussed the plan with other officials of Australian cricket, but would be open to organising any such events.

"Personally, I really like the tri-series concept. It's worked well in the past," he told reporters in Rawalpindi, where the 1st test between Australia and Pakistan ended in a draw.

"We'd be very open to hosting ... matches," he added.

He further added that everyone in the world cricket wants to see India-Pakistan rivalry in the field of cricket.

"There are really big communities of both India and Pakistan living in Australia. It's a contest that everyone wants to see in world cricket and if we can help support further opportunities we would love to do that."

For now, there is no chance for this type of series to take place due to jam-packed international schedules. All the international sides have their Future tours lined up for the next two years.

India and Pakistan are set to face each other in another ICC sanctioned tournament, T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The two high profile sides will be staged in Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on 23rd October.
