Cricket has become basic, sad to see bowlers getting tired after four overs: Kapil Dev.

Former Cricketer and an all-time great Kapil Dev on Thursday criticized the new generation bowlers who seem to get tired after four overs and complaint of workload management.

Dev, who used to bowl a lot of overs in the nets to get accustomed to the situation during his time, said it sometimes saddens him to see the new bowlers complaining and cricket boiling down to basics.

?Sometimes it is saddening to see a player getting tired after bowling just four overs and I?ve heard they?re not allowed to bowl more than three or four overs. So cricket today has changed,? Kapil Dev said in an interaction with India Today.

?Cricket today is very basic you either perform with the bat or the ball. But in our time, we had to do everything," added the former cricketer.

He further said that during his time they used to bowl as many overs as possible to get those muscles which will help them.

"I remember in our time I won?t say whether it's right or wrong even the last player who would come out and bat during the nets, we would end up bowling 10 overs to them as well. So that mindset has to be developed and that helps build muscles. Today perhaps those four overs are enough for them so we feel for our generation it feels a bit strange," Kapil said.

India has recently found it hard to get a proper replacement for all-rounder Hardik Pandya in test cricket. The debate arose soon after New Zealand defeated India in the ICC World Test Championship final at the Hampshire bowl.

Pandya is in and out of the team after he sustained his back injury and is out of the red ball cricket since India?s last England tour in 2018.
