IPL 2022: Much ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Mega Auctions 2022, the Ravi Shastri and co are learnt to be approached by the CVC Capitals owned Ahmedabad based IPL franchise. The new franchise is likely to bring Shastri on board as the head coach of the side along with bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar.

The reports emerged after the franchise owners approached Ravi Shastri, who is currently with team India in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. The current Indian head coach has asked for some extra time as he doesn?t want to get distracted with his coaching duties with the Indian outfit as of now.

Sources close to Ravi Shastri has revealed that the celebrated coach is open to head the new IPL franchises even if it costs his commentary aspirations. It is noteworthy that Ravi Shastri, before making a name for himself as a coach, was widely known for his sensational commentary skills.

As per the rules laid down by the BCCI, Shastri cannot earn a direct commentary contract from BCCI if he gets hitched to an IPL franchise, however, he can indirectly be approached by the broadcasters and do this commentary, just like VVS Laxman does whilst being engaged with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The CVC Capitals officials want to close the deal with Ravi Shastri as soon as it can be. With the IPL 2022 Mega Auction likely to be held in January, all the processes of three special picks and the list of potential players to be brought from the auction table must be done immediately.

The exit doors for Ravi Shastri will be opened after India completes its ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 campaign. India?s semi-final hopes are now in the hands of Afghanistan as they are to face New Zealand in today?s match.

If New Zealand wins the match, India will play its last T20 World Cup 2021 match on 8th November against Namibia as they will be out of the semi-final race and if New Zealand loses to Afghanistan, India can enter the semi-finals by defeating Namibia.
