IPL 2022: Decision to add two new franchises in IPL 2022 on halt says, BCCI official.
IPL 2022: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earlier this year confirmed that the two new IPL franchises will be added to the existing pool of eight in the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, a senior office-bearer of the BCCI said that the decision is still in progress and the final call will be taken after assessing the market situations and feasibility.
BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal on Monday informed IANS that the process is still going on and no guarantee can be given as there are a lot of factors to take into consideration.
“We are looking to have two franchises in next year’s IPL but we will have to see the market and also assess the situation prevailing in the country. We can’t guarantee a timeline because there are a lot of things we have to consider,” said Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Arun Dhumal to IANS on Monday.

There have been certain speculations that Ahmedabad could possibly get a franchise in the next season while the other franchise could be anyone from Pune, Lucknow, Kanpur and Ranchi. However, the tender and bidding war will only open once the decision to induct the franchise is finalised.
It would have been a great matchup if the BCCI successfully bring two new franchises in the next season. The Mega Auctions has been planned for the coming year’s IPL and there could be a fair chance for all the franchises including the two new to get some good players right from the Mega Auction.
Once the two new franchises are inducted, the IPL window will get bigger with more games and double entertainment.
As said earlier, a lot depends on the market behaviour and feasibility. If the board decides to go ahead in the IPL 2022 with existing franchises then there could be a possibility of no mega auction.
