Deepak Chahar might miss T20 World Cup 2022 as he suffers back & hip injury: Team India?s injury jolt continues as another premier pacer has suffered an injury ahead of the ICC Men?s T20 World Cup 2022. This time it is Deepak Chahar who has been sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to assess the extent of his back and hip injury which he suffered ahead of the 1st ODI against South Africa in Lucknow.

Chahar was promptly taken to NCA for further scans, the results of which are yet to be revealed. 

It?s important to note that Deepak Chahar is one of the four standby players named for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and also a top contender to replace injured Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian squad.

?We will soon get an update on Chahar. He had back pain on eve of the game and was not comfortable at all. The team management decided to send him to NCA where further scans will be conducted. Primarily, it looks like a back and hip injury,? a source in the BCCI informed The Indian Express.

Notably, Chahar had recently returned after recovering from his back injury. He was sidelined from international cricket for six months earlier this year due to his share of injuries. 

While a few reports also claimed that Deepak Chahar twisted his ankle on October 6 due to which he had to miss the ODI series opener against South Africa. The actual statement from the BCCI is expected to come in a day?s time or two.

This will be a crucial moment for the Indian side which is prepping for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The Men in Blue were already bruised with the injuries of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. If Chahar sustains another injury, it will be a huge blow to India?s aspirations as the pacer looked in good shape recently.
