Delhi Capitals is all set to announce the new captain for the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). As per the reports in ANI, it is learned that Indian all-rounder Axar Patel is all set to lead the team in IPL 2025, which is set to begin in the last week of March.

Delhi Capitals are one of the few teams in the IPL who are yet to announce the squad for the next edition of the league. Since the last few months, there have been a lot of rumours which have suggested that KL Rahul will be given the leadership, considering he captained his previous teams.

However, a top official of the Delhi Capitals has confirmed to ANI that Axar Patel will be leading the team. This comes as a huge development as the all-rounder has been the vice-captain of the team for the last few seasons and played a massive role for the team.

Axar Patel, who also was recently appointed as the vice-captain of the Indian team in T20Is, has been an integral part of the Delhi Capitals for the last few seasons. He has been consistently performing for the team in the IPL with bat and ball and has developed himself as a big match-winner for the team.

The need for captaincy arose for the team when Rishabh Pant decided to part ways with the team due to some conflict with the owners. The franchise then picked a few captaincy options in KL Rahul, Faf du Plessis and others, and it was expected that one among them would lead the team.

However, management decided to back their old player and give him the opportunity. The Delhi Capitals management is soon expected to make the official announcement and it remains to be seen who will be the vice-captain of the team.
