In what promises to be a really fascinating and exciting encounter, Ashes-Rivals England and Australia are set to lock horns against each other in the second T20 International match of the three-game Twenty-Twenty series. The Mighty Aussies are ahead in the series by 1-0, having won against the Three Lions in the first match of the series.
In the previous game, opening batter Travis Head’s explosive-batting and his team’s exceptionally good bowling display helped the tourists secure a 28-run victory. England, under the leadership of Phil Salt, struggled to get going and weren’t able to find their rhythm.
The second game will be a must-win one for the Phil Salt-led team and if they end up on the losing side in that game, then the Kangao will gain an unattainable lead and they will run away with the series comfortably.
The second match will take place on the 13th of September at the Sophia Gardens Cricket Stadium of Cardiff. The game will commence at 11:00 PM IST.
ENG vs AUS 2nd T20I: Previews of both the teams
England
England had a really good game with the ba as they managed to keep Australia below 200 runs with Jofra Archer and Saqib Mahmood playing a key role with the ball in the death overs.
But with the bat, except Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone, the other English batters were not able to perform according to expectations.
Livingstone was his team’s top run getter with the bat and he was England’s highest wicket-taker as well.
The duo of Saqib Mahmood and Adil Rashid bowled well as well, but left arm pacer Reece Topley had a really bad day with the ball for the Three Lions, only being handed one over in which he gave away 15 runs.
Sam Curran, on the other hand, wasn’t that great either as Travis Head smacked him for 30 runs in his initial over but he made a good comeback by picking up a wicket in the death overs.
Reece Topley might get dropped in favour of Josh Hull or John Turner for the next game while Dan Mousely can also be given a chance to shine at the expense of Jacob Bethell or Sam Curran.
Probable Playing 11 for the second T20 International:
Phil Salt (Captain), Will Jacks, Jacob Bethell / Dan Mousely, Jordan Cox, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, John Turner / Josh Hull and Saqib Mahmood.
Australia
Matt Short opening the inning ahead of hard-hitting opener Jake-Fraser-McGurk took a lot of people by surprise, but his inning of 41 runs will ensure that he keeps his place in the playing 11 for the remaining-encounters of the series.
Fast Bowler Xavier Bartlett limped his way off the ground after picking up an injury in the middle of his over so one of Aaron Hardie, Riley Meredith or Ben Dwarshius will be battling against each other for Bartlett’s spot in the playing 11.

ENG vs AUS 2nd T20I: Pitch Report of Sophia Gardens Cricket Stadium, Cardiff
The surface of the Sophia Gardens Stadium offers lively bounce and pace in the initial phase of the inning, providing a really good platform for the pacers to create an early and instant impact.
As the game progresses, the surface of the ground starts to get flat, becoming more and more favourable for the batsmen.
Spinners get limited help in the first inning but from the second inning onwards, the pitch becomes drier and drier, which allows the slow bowlers to grip the ball more and that shifts the game in the favour of the defending team.
The toss-winning captain should opt to bat first at this iconic stadium.
