ENG vs AUS 3rd ODI: England’s probable playing 11 | Archer in place of Carse?

ENG vs AUS 3rd ODI: England’s probable playing 11 for the third match of the series | Archer in place of Carse? The 3rd One-Day International of the ongoing five-match 50-over series will witness the Mighty Australians take on 2019 ODI World Cup winners England on 24th September at Riverside Cricket Stadium of Chester-Le-Street.

With the Kangaroos having a lead of 2-0 in the series, the hosts find themselves under pressure to make a comeback and stay alive in the series.

The Mitchell Marsh-led team have proven to be very dominant in the series so-far, beginning with an easy win by seven-wickets in the first ODI, followed by a comfortable victory by 68 runs in the second encounter.

In the previous game, Mitchell Marsh and co set a reasonable total of 271 runs, thanks to the fighting knock of 74 runs by Alex Carey and a good half-century inning by skipper Mitchell Marsh. The Three Lions just weren’t good enough in the second game and they got all-out for a mere score of 202 runs and ended up losing the second ODI.

Despite young wicketkeeper batsman Jamie Smith top scoring with a knock of 49 runs, the Englishmen weren’t able to survive under the pressure created by the bowling unit of the Aussies, led-by Mitchell Starc, claimed three scalps, while the trio of Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazelwood and Glenn Maxwell picked up two-wickets each as well.

ENG vs AUS 3rd ODI: England’s potential playing 11 versus Australia

With England at the risk of potentially losing the series, stand-in-skipper Harry Brook would have to take some tough decisions.

Jofra Archer, the premier pacer of the Three Lions, can prove to be the X-Factor the 2019 ODI World Cup champions need.

Right-arm pacer Brydon Carse, had an okayish outing with the ball in the second One-Day International. He picked up three-wickets but gave away 75 runs in the process at an extremely high economy-rate of 7.50.

He accounted for the three-wickets more from the individual errors of the Australian batters rather than relying on pure skill.

Brook might feel tempted to bring back his ace bowler Jofra Archer back in the starting 11, hoping his accurate line & length along with sheer pace can blow away the batting unit of the Australians.

With one potential chance in the bowling-unit, the probable starting XI of the Harry Brook-led team could witness Jofra Archer making a comeback.

Playing 11: Ben Duckett, Harry Brook (Captain), Phil Salt, Jamie Smith (WK), Will Jacks, Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone, Jofra Archer, Olly Stone, Adil Rashid and Matthew Potts.
